Thank you. I'll check this out tomorrow. I don't care what anyone else says, I rate the N-S./Philly M8 recording as my favorite one from an American source, while the Colin Davis/BRSO remains my favorite European one.

This is among the best American Mahler 3 performances I've yet to hear. Of course, the sound is better on the Levine/Chicago one. I'm particularly fond of the Alan Gilbert/N.Y. Phil. one.

Apart from the mediocre sound quality, I would say it is a first-rate recording. One can only dream that it will be issued someday, just like that recent Mahler 8.

I love the Gilbert/M3, it's my number one pick for the piece. It's also probably the best single thing that Gilbert did in NY. The Levine/Chicago was the first Mahler I ever heard, given to me by dear friend who happens to play on the Gilbert M3.
