I only got to sample the Bychkov, but I listened to the Vänskä in full and I thought it was very fine. I loved his way with the middle movements in particular (he always seems to absolutely nail inner movements of his Mahler, for some odd reason).

I really LIKE Vanska's M9th. I think this is his finest Mahler outing on par with the complete Tenth. His tempo choices and tempo shifts are totally convincing, especially in I., and as Erik said his III. is absolutely stunning!

Agreed! This makes me hopeful for the last two: M8 and M3
