He's really good. But here's a tip: the Jurowski/LPO M2 is fabulous. I'll check out the sound samples though.

I think Stenz will do a really great Mahler 3. Anyway, in regards to M2, Stenz and Jurowski sound a lot alike at the start of the first and fifth movements. At the start of the 5th mvt., Jurowski doesn't wait quite so long to come back in with the double basses (after a brief pause). Jurowski is quite a bit slower with the main melody that starts the second movement, but I really prefer Stenz's quicker tempo for that. However, Jurowski - at a slightly slower tempo - does an outstanding job of characterizing the ironic humor that's behind the scherzo, given that it's original source is "St. Anthony's Sermon to the Fishes" from Des Knaben Wunderhorn. In other words, Jurowski is basically slower with both the second and third movements. The big litmus test (for me, anyway) is the very end of the symphony. Obviously, we can only guess how Stenz sounds. I can tell you that Jurowski is fabulous with the very end.

Man, are we ever spoiled!!!

The audio samples sound great!

Indeed, I liked Stenz's M4th very much and ranked it alongside Fischer's.

This is definitely on my want list and I will eagerly wait for the release.

Stenz's "Des Knaben Wunderhorn" completely sweeps the board for me as well.
