If anything, this will likely be a better recording than Rattleā€™s first go at it. That was already pretty good for the most part.

Certainly a better tenor, anyway. And we don't have to hear those trashy Paiste tam-tam smashes either. And at the very least, it won't be as dull as Abbado's Berlin snooze-fest of a Mahler 8. But let's not jump the gun    .     .     .
