M3 will be the final installment in Vanska's Minnesota Mahler cycle. I've written BIS and asked for clarification on their release strategy. My guess - and it's only a guess! - is that they'll want to record AND release M3 first, then go back and release M9 and M8. In other words, sort of get back on track because, as you may recall, M3 was originally scheduled before M9 (but got cancelled due to Covid). Anyway, . . . . https://www.minnesotaorchestra.org/tickets/calendar/classical/vaenskae-conducts-mahlers-third/

I have my ticket for the first performance and can’t wait. I’ve been really enjoying the cycle so far, especially the unique M6.

Interesting you should say that, because I've been circling back to Vanska's M6 as well. It's very different, but it somehow works.

Yeah I can’t yet put into words but it’s wonderful - an apollonian-like approach maybe.

This might sound detached, but what I like most about Vänskä’s Mahler is that you can hear every note of every instrument.
Shallow, I know, but I love details.

I think Mahler himself would appreciate that aspect as well.
