Mahler was Hitler's favorite of conductor of Wagner during his pre-war Vienna years. And just the other day, someone told me that Hitler had had a job interview with Alfred Roller; Mahler's famous stage designer at the Vienna Imperial Opera. Apparently, Hitler didn't make much of impression with Roller. If only he had sold more paintings!!!
