Title: Lots of Interesting new releases at HMV.JP
Post by: sperlsco on April 18, 2011, 04:31:47 PM
Some of these will probably be available in Europe too...

DLvdE - Gielen, SWR SO, Kallisch, Jerusalem (Hanssler) -  The missing piece in Gielen's excellent cycle
DLvdE - Ashkenazy, Sydney SO, Paasikivi, Skelton (Exton)
M5, Inbal, Czech PO (Exton) -- The first release of a planned cycle for Inbal and the Czech PO if what I've read is correct

Complete Live and Studio, Tennstedt, London PO:  This one is bargain priced at around $35!!! It contains the studio cycle of M1-M9, plus DlvdE, M10 Adagio.  It also includes three of his excellent commercial live releases with the LPO -- M5, M6, and M7.  It appears that since the live M1 was with the Chicago SO, it is not included in the set.

Passikivi is very good on the Ashkenazy "DLvdE". FYI.

I had a really high expectation for the Inbal/CPO/Exton M5th. But the Japanese customers gave only 4 stars out of 5. :-[.

That said, I LOVE Inbal's recording of the work with FRSO on Denon.

It has the best combination of cogency, intensity, playing and sound.
