I would rate this as a first-rate recording, especially the middle movements feature some fresh and exciting playing. Moreover, the recording is very well engineered.

Thank you. Gatti's Mahler with the RCOA seems so much more interesting than Jansons' somewhat plain versions. It would be a pity if they don't issue his M3 (of which I have a 'pirate' of).

This is a slow M1st overall. The 1st movt. is treated like a bucolic waltz (although it ain't a waltz!). The playing of RCO is phenomenal as usual.
