Twins vs. Yankees (OOT)
« on: October 10, 2009, 02:54:24 PM »
Those of you who watched last night's game 2 in the ALDS must have been as frustrated as I was.

When Twins finally surfaced as the AL Central Division lead after beating Tigers in the one game tiebreaker, I had a hope that Yankees would taste a biter taste in their tongue and be sent home for good. Guess what happened instead. Twins would have won this crucial game had they been a just more alert and executed it a little sharper. In one extra inning, they had all three runners with NO outs. But they simply couldn't put a nice finish and score runs; all they needed was just one more run. Now they are 0-9 against the NY this year. Is there Yankee mystique hanging around again? :-X :-\

Now, it seems Yankees will go smash and bomb all their way to the World Series. Which team could stop these guys? Any possibility?

I'd say, Phillies vs. Yanks will be a great match but honestly I doubt Phillies will make to the series :-[.

What do you think?

The Angels will beat the Yanks, they almost always do!

I think it's a Philly, Anaheim World Series this year.

The only way to beat Yanks is through a great TEAMWORK. And it is in this sense that I consider Angels capable of wiping them out. So are Philies but their pitching has been inconsistent so far. Twins had guts and momentum but I am afraid they have worn out.

John,

Very true. I think the Yanks pitching will fail them in the end. Their hitting is unstoppable though.
It'll be interesting to see how Pedro, after a 5 year lay off, pitches tonight in Colorado.

Dodgers look pretty good too...after defeating Cardinals 3-0. I never had confidence in them but right now they seem confident. So, it could be Philies vs. Yanks or Dodgers vs. Yanks.

The best "story" for me would be Dodgers vs. Yanks. You'd have the ex-Yankees manager kicked aside by the Yankees for not getting the job done...only to meet his old team in World Series.  I obviously love the Cardinals. But since they're out, I have no problem if a storied franchise like the Dodgers went all the way.

1. Can Red Sox overcome the 0-2 deficit and come back to win the division series?

(I think they can. I mean, they've been there before)

2. Can Twins finally make a win against Yanks in their home ground? They are 0-9 this year.

(I doubt it. The Yanks mystique will reign over the dome)

We'll get to find out the answers tomorrow. Plus, there will be Phillies vs. Rox game that was postphoned due to weather.

It's going to be a fun Sunday 8).

I am as frustrated as the Angeles are....

I am starting to believe that there is indeed 'Yankee mystique'.

Looks like it will be Philies vs. Yankees eventually.

The two teams certainly are becoming of the same kind as the NLCS and ALCS continue. That is, lots of offense, HRs and solid but not particularly outstanding pitching (well except for Cliff Lee).

It will be VERY interesting match in the WS. :)

As good as the Phillies are, I can't see anybody beating the Yankees now.

Yank3 Phillies 1.

Realistically and practically the WS is OVER now.

Hello Yanks, Sayonara Phillies :-[ :-\ :'(.

I have a hunch that a new Yankees' era has just begun....no other team will be able to beat them for years to come (well, unless they screw up themselves).

Cong. Yanks >:( :( :-X
