I like this a lot too. As I viewed this photo I looked to the left of me and saw the photo on the box of the Edo de Waart cycle. Strikingly similar! They must have been taken around the same moment.

It's part of a series of posed photographs taken in Amsterdam. There's a famous one with Mahler posed, while Mengelberg, Diepenbrock and others stand behind and to the side of him.
