This is sad news indeed. But so far I haven't found any of Chung/SPO's recordings to be particularly worth my attention despite recordings of generally astonishing (if a bit artificial) sound quality. If Chung's Mahler cycle can be continued with the Dresden Staatskapelle using similar recording techniques, it will be a dream come true. We can only hope...

Chung won't resign easily because the players of SPO want him to stay so badly. There's lot of politics going on there, yes and it's ugly.
BTW has anyone heard Chung/SPO/DG M5th CD that has just been released?
