Title: getting back to Schumann/Mahler by Chailly (Decca)
Post by: barry guerrero on March 02, 2007, 08:50:31 PM
I talked to D.H. this morning. He says that the Chailly disc of Schumann/Mahler symphonies 2 and 4 is really quite good. A review should be showing up at Classicstoday.com very soon. He says that in this recording - as opposed to the ones that were out on BIS with the Bergen Symphony - you can really hear and follow what Mahler did with the orchestrations. Further more, these are just plain, exciting performances. Sounds good to me!
