Redwood Symphony, under Music Director Eric Kujawsky, will perform Rudolph Barshai’s 2000 completion of Mahler’s Tenth Symphony on Saturday, June 12, Canada College Main Theatre, 4200 Farm Hill Blvd, Redwood City. $ 10 (student), $20 in advance, $25 at door, Free for children under 12 www.redwoodsymphony.org, 650-366-6872. For information: info@redwoodsymphony.org
Preconcert lecture by Dr. Kujawsky at 7:00.
Barshai’s version is inspired primarily by Cooke’s but the orchestration (including guitar, 2 xylophones, tenor horn) is expanded, and many notes and harmonies are no longer “corrected,” as Barshai explains.

Talking of M10, I know that Benjamin Zander is doing the first movement of it with the top tier of NEC preparatory orchestra a few days from now in Boston.
Barshai's instrumentation sounds interesting...
