Hello,
I've had the the Haitink Mahler Kerstmatinees on CD for sometime, now. But if it's still available, I thought I'd pursue getting them on DVD. Has anyone done business with the following Dutch online store: http://www.huisvolmuziek.nl/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=151976 Does anyone have a decent alternative?
Many thanks,
Steven

John,
I thought so, too. The copyright for the site says 2005-2010, but I was still worried that it might be an old relic of an OOP item. Maybe I'll take a chance and order it. Ideally, I'd prefer to go with a store I've done business with before, though.

Does anyone know if it is possible to watch the X-mas matinee concert tomorrow live on the Internet?
Merry X-mas to all ye faithful mahlerians

I just checked these out and found, to my disappointment, that they are Region 2 DVDs. You may be able to play them on your computer, but not on your DVD player (unless, of course, you have one with such capability). :(

I don't care if they are region2. I just want to find out if they are still available for sale. Are they?? ???
John,

For a small amount ($50 or so), your electronics dealer can "open up" your DVD-player, so that DVDs from all regions can be played.

Sometimes it's as simple as entering a sequence of commands via your player's remote control unit. A Google search containing the words "region hack" and your player's make and model might enable you to do it yourself.

Hm, so that's what they charged me for. Next time I buy a new DVD-player, I'll do the Google search myself. Thank you James.

Some brands (eg. Sony) are difficult to unlock, but the site is very comprehensive.
