But I just don't see the point in this release.

The original recording didn't take advantage of DSD  and as such there can't be much improvement when switching from the regular CD to SACD.

AM I missing something?? ???

Unless the original recording was done in high-res PCM (like 96/24), in which case the DSD 'container' of SACD will be able to provide us with a better-sounding recording....

Since EMI hasn't, as of yet, jumped into the sacd game, I'm wondering if this will actually get released in the U.S.
