Title: Rattle Berlin 1999 radio M7
Post by: hrandall on June 22, 2011, 01:32:51 PM
Greetings,

I've been reading Tony Duggan's review of Mahler 7 recordings and he gave very high praise to a Rattle / Berlin 1999 radio recording. I wonder if any of you have heard it? A morning's Google searching hasn't turned anything else up about it.

If you have, do you find it as spectacular as Mr. Duggan does?

Thanks,
Herb

PS: I have the Barenboim / Berliner Staatskapelle Berlin M7 on order, thanks to Barry's praise for it here and on Amazon.

Yes, I have the recording and I like it very much, better than Rattle's CBSO recording.

I'd put it on par with his 1995 MahlerFest concert with VPO.

I also heard him conducting BSO in late 90s and that too was excellent.

I think M7th is one of Mahler symphonies - M1, M3, M7, M8, M10 - that he does very well.

John,

John

Do tell us more. It's not in the Mouret discography.
