Title: Henry Louis de la Grange' new book?
Post by: john haueisen on July 05, 2011, 02:34:22 PM
Has anyone heard any reports on the status of Henry Louis de la Grange's planned new book on Mahler?
I remember Henry once mentioning that we not get his original Doubleday book, and that he suggested that we wait until he finished a new book, that would cover much better what the original did, I believe, very well.

Prof. de La Grange is still at work on revising and expanding his Volume 1 (I received the latest news to this effect about a month ago).  However, I have no idea how far along he is in the process.  He recently celebrated his 87th birthday and was in attendance at the Leipzig Mahler Festival in May.

Thank you, Mike.

I marvel that HLDLG would think it possible to improve upon any of his works, but then he is HLDLG, and is always striving for perfection.  We are so fortunate to be able to partake in the feast he has prepared for us.
