Presto used to carry this at $32.00 but it's out of stock there now.
Where's the best place to get it?
-
I don't know if it is the best place, but I got mine at the PSO store.

No kidding!! :o :o This is the BEST place!
Russ, thank you! ;)
P.S. This is a pretty darn near perfect M3rd by any standard. The playing is on a par with RCO, but Honeck's reading is the real winner here.

Hey John, I'm glad you the Honeck. I'm going to try to stand under the Lufthansa A-380 Airbus at the end of SFO's long runway again this Saturday (while it's taking off, of course) - a moment that any Mahlerian could truly appreciate.
Strange that the PSO Store would sell the 3rd for the same price as the other two (shhhhhhhh, don't say anything!)

I few A380 once and liked it very much (DON'T TELL MY MANAGER ABOUT THAT!! ;D). It was a very smooth flying; i didn't even notice when the plane took off and landed.
As much as I admire the playing of PSO in this symphony, I must confess my overall preference still goes to LSO or RCO (as far as the PLAYING is concerned). Listen to Gergiev's recording and find out how powerful and idiomatic the London brass is in the first movt. You just can't find that kind of playing elsewhere. I LIKE Gergiev's SACD for the first three movements; it's just that the later 3 movt. sound a bit too rushed.
John,

. . . funny, because it's the last three movements that I like most about Gergiev's M3. I guess I like those movements 'rushed' ;)

You can download it free (and in only about five minutes downloading time) at:

Does anyone have another Honeck M3 download, curious what it sounds like before I plunk down some serious cash for a CD. Thanks.
