For those of you who were disappointed by the broadcast of Alan Gilberts 9/11 Mahler 2 concert, Accentus will be issuing it on DVD and Blu-Ray, to be released in the U.S. on November 15.

I wonder whether they will edit out the guy in the box seat--to Gilbert's right, visible when the camera shoots across from the left--who is apparently asleep. As I recall, he disappears after a movement or two. Voluntarily?

I see that Amazon UK is already offering the Blu-ray as a pre-order, and that it will be released this coming Monday (October 31), which is pretty darned fast. At £17.99 (about $29), it's a pretty good price, too.

I just pre-ordered the Blu-ray. I should add that the £17.99 price includes a £3 VAT charge that's automatically deducted for non-UK residents, but then it's offset by a £3.08 shipping charge (to the USA), so it's a wash. Still, at a total price of US$29, it's a pretty good price for a concert Blu-ray. (It will likely cost around $35 when it's released in the US.)

Hmmm... Got a note from Amazon UK yesterday stating that this release has been delayed, and that the estimated release date is now December 16. :(
