Title: PSO M2, M6, & M9
Post by: Russ Smiley on December 05, 2013, 03:56:24 AM
"...Two Mahler recordings are awaiting release on Exton, Symphonies No. 2, recorded at the Musikverein in Vienna, and No. 6, recorded at Heinz Hall. Exton is expected to record Mahler's Symphony No. 9 in June 2014...."

Great news. I'll bet that Strauss Tone Poems disc on Reference Recordings is a winner.

This is has 'gotten' me thinking again. Originally, there was talk that the PSO would issue M2 & M6 in a three disc set. But then the people at the PSO Store told me that there were going to get issued separately at different times. I'm wondering if they may have re-thought this problem (?). Issuing both symphonies in a three disc set would make this a far more attractive proposition.

I was just thinking about the PSO recordings before this thread got started! I'm really hoping both the M6 and M2 get released very soon. Based on previous recordings, I have high expectations for both.

Anyone have an inkling of release dates for either?

Cheers,
Herb
