Well Barry, later this year (if all goes according to plan) I shall finally be doing the "Composing Huts" tour, to take in not only Steinbach, Maernigg and Dobbiaco but also Vienna and Jihlava!  I've wanted to do this for over 20 years, so am really looking foward to it!

I would love to know the details of who does this kind of tour.  Is there only one company or entity, or are there more?

Wade, the trip is being organised by GMS-UK, the British Mahler society.  I think about 20 of us are going, and the trip starts and finishes in Vienna, with a coach to the other locations. staying in various hotels.  We have to get ourselves to Vienna by whatever means (by air or rail), because we are coming from different parts of the UK.  Unfortunately I don't know of any company that does this tour commercially, which is a pity but then it is very specialised.

Happy New Year to everyone. Enjoy the trip, Penny. Living in Italy, I've had the chance to visit Dobbiaco several times. It's a most beautiful place and it's worwhile seeing the composing hut and the rooms where Mahler lived. An early morning walk down to the lake is recomended.

Thank you everybody.  It's a few months ahead yet, but Paul, I will try to make a point of walking down to the lake early in the morning.

(I would have replied earlier but couldn't get onto the website for a few days for some reason.)
