I've been looking at the excerpts on Youtube, and I've decided to pick up the DVD of Mahler symphonies 3 & 4 with Paavo Jarvi/Frankfurth Radio S.O. on the C Major label. It's being released in the U.S. on February 24. Both vocalists sound really good: Waltraud Meier in M3 and Genia Kuhmeier in M4. Both were performed in the rather 'boomy' acoustics of local churches. While that muddies up some of the fine detail (as well as exaggerate the bass end), it greatly enhances the sound of both vocalists. I'm really looking forward to when they make a release of M7/M8.

What's the difference between a Meier and a Kuhmeier anyway?
