Title: Daniele Gatti and Mahler 6
Post by: barry guerrero on September 14, 2015, 05:54:29 AM
Mahler 6 is going to be Daniele Gatti's first item of business at the Concertgebouw. I think he's really going to shake things up there - they haven't had someone truly fiery in ages. But did you know that Decca Concerts came out with a 'digital download' of an M6 that Gatti did with the Orchestre National de France in 2009?

Gatti's M5 is one of my favorites: passionate, well played, superbly recorded, and finely paced. I hope we get to hear a lot more Mahler from him.

Check out his Mahler 5 with the RCO on Blu-Ray. It's excellent, as well.

"I hope we get to hear a lot more Mahler from him (Gatti)"

They've given him the keys to the Concertgebouw. I'll bet anything that RCO Live will make his upcoming M6 available.

I know that Mariss Jansons really knows music, but I'm looking forward to getting somebody who looks like a Beaver when he's conducting, OFF of the podium. He gets better results in Munich anyway - for some reason.
