This should be one h__l of a show! Let's see if Reference Recordings records this!

The Utah recording of M1 has received generally satisfying reviews; I haven't heard it. Do you know if RR is recording the whole cycle? I love the sound of their HD recordings, although finding cd players that can decode them is not easy any more.

According to R.R.'s own website, it's a two-year long Mahler cycle. However, they sound just a tad non-committal as to whether they're going to issue the entire cycle or not. Read it and see how you interpret their words. Hopefully we'll get this M8, because they DO say that there will be more Mahler releases in 2016. Perhaps no record company can commit beyond a year or two these days.

I attended this concert both nights and I can tell you it was one of the most fantastic musical experiences of my life. I can't say it was the best interpretation or even execution that I've heard of the admittedly difficult work, but it was powerful and emotional beyond belief. The soloists and the MoTab choir blew everyone away. According to the Marketing head of the Utah Symphony they did in fact record it but didn't say whether it would be released.

Let's hope. Thank you for that report. I'm envious!
