Title: Pristine Mahler Rarities: Schoenberg/Van Kampen
Post by: David Boxwell on June 17, 2016, 09:06:28 PM
Pristine PASC 466: Mark Obert-Thorn successfully rehabilitates two vintage recordings from oblivion.  Arnold Schoenberg's marvellous 1934 rendition of the 2nd's second movement (intro by the deathless Milton Cross!) and Paul Van Kempen's 1950 Telefunken Mahler 4 with his band, the Hilversum Radio Phil.  Less wayward than Mengelberg, but in the same vein.  Worth 10 euros of any Mad Mahlerian's money.
