Title: DG site states Boulez M8 will be 2 discs; October release

The DG site indicates that this will be an October release. It'll be on two discs. Hopefully, they'll give extra tracks for at least Part II. Just speaking for myself, I'm glad that they're not attaching an M10 Adagio to it.

I'm so thankful that this wasn't recorded in Wien's Muzikverein (Berlin's Philharmonie instead). Hopefully, there'll be at least a sufficient amount of organ.

I like it that it will take 2 discs instead of one. Unlike his performances/recordings of other Mahler symphonies, Boulez's live concerts of M8th in 70's had interesting rubatos and tempo adjustments here and there that all worked out nicely. Let's hope he has done the same in this recording.

John,

Actually, wasn't it recorded in the Jesus-Christus-Kirche, according to the original announcement?

Oh, that's right! Better yet, as long as they had a half-way decent organ at their disposal.
