Title: Strike a blow for Mahler!
Post by: Jot N. Tittle on October 09, 2007, 10:49:11 PM
The classical radio station for my area, WCNY-FM, is running their annual "Classical Countdown," whereby listeners are invited to submit their top five requests for playing on the air.

I urge you all to go to <http://www.wcny.org/component/option,com_wrapper/Itemid,127/> and fill out the requests with Mahler works. Be sure to fill in all five--with Mahler works of your choice.

It is as though someone or several people at WCNY-FM either do not like or understand--possibly both--Mahler's music. I receive their monthly broadcast schedule, and Mahler appears on the average less than once a month. This month, he appears not at all. But Telemann, Corelli, et al. are always there--except during fund-raising drives.

Please strike a blow for Mahler and cast your vote for five of his works. The survey is almost at its end.

Gustave thanks you, Alma thanks you, and I thank you.  ;)

Thanks, Barry.

I hope more members will participate.

Don't bother with M1, M4, and M5.

Go for DLvdE, M7, M3, M9, and M2, the works less likely to draw local submissions--insofar as there are local submissions.
