Rafael Kubelik was a great Mahler conductor. He has a complete studio cycle in DGG and a quasi complete live one in Audite.
Which would be the individual symphonies to be preferred ?
From the Audite cycle, I like best nr. 1, 3, 7 and 8.
Best regards,
Oscar.

They're remarkably similar. The sound is quite good on the live performances, and there are extremely few errors in the playing - if any! I think that those facts bode well for the Audite releases. The studio M1 and M4 are certainly competitive.

Kubelik's DLvdE on Audite is one of the best played (and sung) Das Lied's I have yet heard, certainly a top version of that work.

The studio recordings are obviously very good in their own right, but I'd choose most of the live Audite-releases over the DGG counterpart. The live Das Lied von der Erde ranks among my top choices for this work. Same goes for the 7th. Both have a wide range of competition, of course, but still...

Agreed. That "DLvdE" (Audite) is great! - possibly Janet Baker's best one.
Also, Kubelik's M8 has the best overall cast of any M8 recording I've ever heard - far better than Solti's cast even.
