Title: BBC Radio 3 and Mahler.
Post by: Seán on July 06, 2008, 06:30:12 PM
For those of you with access to the BBC you may be interested to know that BBC R3 will broadcast concerts of live recordings of Mahler symphonies on several evenings next week.  Most of these concerts were recorded in June and Gergiev   :-X  is conducting some - perhaps all - of them.   Mahler was born on the 7th July, that's probably why they are broadcasting all next week.

Thanks for the info.

Do they have a website? Will they webcast this event on internet?

John,

Thanks for the heads up Sean! Looks like July 7th is Mahler 2. They are usually available on the net and sometimes for a few days after the initial broadcast as well.

Please, please, please everyone,

Let's do a separate posting when BBC 3 is going to broadcast Gergiev's Mahler 8 from St. Paul's Cathedral. I'm really, REALLY curious about that one.

Any chance that somebody could make a recording of the 8th? I'll be at work during those hours (12 noon Pacific time).

Sean and Barry

Can you specifically give me the web address that will pop out "Gergiev/LSO Mahler series" or something? I couldn't find the broadcast schedule for this series on the Radio 3 website.

Thanks.
