Title: Question - TWO different versions of Fischer/BFO/Channel Classics M6th??
Post by: John Kim on February 07, 2009, 05:23:54 PM
Did Channel Classics release only one format - hybrid SACD - or TWO formats - CD & SACD - of this recording?

Please take a look at,

http://www.tower.com/mahler-symphony-no-6-fischer-budapest-festival-orchestra-iv-n-cd/wapi/106565715

They have a great sale for this recording but I am afraid it might be just the regular CD version.

Please someone clarify this for me.

Thanks. :-*

Hi John,
I have this recording of M6 (CCS 22998) and there is no mention anywhere on the disc or in the booklet that it is a hybrid SACD.
Their website (www.channelclassics.com) says 'hybrid SACD' but their number is different from mine (CCS 22905).
Not very conclusive, sorry.

John, the SACD version of this recording is CCS SA 22905. The Tower link for it is: http://www.tower.com/mahler-symphony-no-6-fischer-budapest-festival-orchestra-cd/wapi/106565711

Be aware that nowhere on the page does it say "SACD" but the picture of the disc has the SACD logo on the bottom-left.

Although the performance is on the "cool" side, the sound is damn spectacular on SACD.

Thank you all for the clarifications.

I might order one for myself.

John,
