has anyone heard of eisenbach's propsed all of mahler's symphonies on dvd with the paris orchestra /much appreciated in advance.

Nope, I haven't. But it is good and not so good news because I wouldn't hold too much breadth on it :-[.
I mean, why the French orchestra for Mahler?? :-[

Frankly, John, I think French performances of Mahler these days, are every bit as good as most of those that come from London. The use the same stupid Paiste tam-tams, but the performances tend to be both clear and exciting. Check out some of the Eschenbach/Orch. de Paris Mahler excerpts on Youtube.

I've seen a few of these performances (M1, M5, M8) on Mezzo TV and I have to say they weren't too bad. I really like Eschenbach's M6 on Ondine, as well. It seems that most Mahler performances by Eschenbach and the Orchestre de Paris are recorded for TV in high quality, so it may very well be true. And if it is, I might give the set a try...
