Title: 9/4 BrucknerTag with new Jansons
Post by: alpsman on September 04, 2009, 07:37:46 PM
Today September 4th is the 185th anniversary of Bruckner's birthday. So I listened to the just arrived Jansons/B3 and4.

These are splendid performances, in excellent sacd sound and gloriously playing by the RCOA.

In B3/II Jansons is somehow fleet, but this works ok. The scherzo is very rhytmic.

In the Romantic I have a little problem in the beggining with the solo horn. There is a kind of vibrato and the timbre is something like saxophone or trombone-like. But on the whole this is a very nice adding to Bruckner discography.
