Title: Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra Mahler 5th Live
Post by: sbugala on September 20, 2009, 03:55:11 AM
Hello Fellow Mahlerites,
My hometown orchestra will broadcasting their season opening concert live on www.classic99.com which features Mahler's 5th live NEXT Saturday.  The details

Mahler's Fifth
Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 8pm (Central Standard)
David Robertson, conductor
Daniel Lee, cello
Michael Ward-Bergeman, hyper-accordion
Jamey Haddad, percussion
Keita Ogawa, percussion

OSVALDO GOLIJOV Azul
MAHLER Symphony No. 5

Every Saturday concert the orchestra is doing this season will be on the radio, so there's some other good stuff, too.  http://www.classic99.com/slsolive.htm I can't say anything about recording quality. Our local station always seems to compress things. But it's worth a try.  And if someone can somehow swing getting a capture of it all, let me know.  I usually use cables and simply record things on videotape, which is decent for preservation.

I'll be attending the night before, so I'll report my thoughts, too.

Steve

Steve, let me know how that goes.  I have a digital recorder that I could possibly hook up to my computer if nobody else can come up with a better way of doing it.

Thanks,
Michael

And for anyone following this thread, the Slatkin/St. Louis M5 is really very, VERY good. It was available in one of the SLSO's own box sets. I have a burn job of it.
