I was there. Unfortunately, I was at the matinee and it was a little rough. Regardless, I like Orozco-Estrada’s way with the work and O’Connor is quite good.

Oh, wow. I'll check this out!
I just listened to the broadcast of the Vanska/Minnesota Mahler 3, catching it about half-way through the scherzo. The scherzo was a bit on the slow side, but very detailed (including wonderful tam-tam and suspended cymbal at end of the scherzo). I liked the two vocal movements very much, but they reeeeeally hit it out of the park on the last movement. Let me tell, that's going to be a gorgeous recording of the big brass chorale at the end. . . . later on: actually, it's still not up yet, for some reason.

Nope, the Vanska/MO M3rd is not up yet.
Maybe in a few days I guess and hope.

Perhaps they'll do a mix from all three performances. When I was listening from about the symphony's half-way mark, there was a surprising number of 'clams' in the brass - particularly the horns. It's nice to know that Mahler's music still presents a challenge, even today.
