Yes, it does. I does sound sort of like what Zinman did for M6th.

You know, if he can just reproduce what he did with Aspen Festival orch. back in 1997 his upcoming M9th will be the most musically cogent, convincing yet powerful version.

I'd love to see Zinman take a crack at the Samale/Mazzuca version of Mahler 10, but I'm sure that's wishful thinking at best. I have the feeling that it could still be done much better than it is on the Exton recording. Performance wise, I'm just not that pleased with it.

I listened to this M9th again recently.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that this M9th is among the greatest, along with Bernstein (RCO and BSO), Levine (Philadelphia Orch), and Ozawa (BSO).

I am anxiously looking forward to his remake on RCA.

But first with the M7th ...  ;D :D.

Good morning from a sweltering UK

I have the Zinman Mahler 7 on my desk awaiting its first spin. On the whole I have admired Zinman's Mahler cycle but I did find No 6 to be a little underwhelming after, say, the intensity of Boulez. I have high hopes for Zinman's Mahler 8 which, if his M2 is anything to go by, will be rather special.

I am afraid that Zinman will record Carpenter version.
