You'll also witness the conundrum of the symphony's very final chord, as Mahler marks a crescendo ONLY in the second timpanist's part. You either have to enhance that last chord in some way, or make certain that the 2nd timpanist truly makes a HUGE crescendo (otherwise, it won't cut through). Here's a clue: getting the trumpets to blast louder is not the answer (witness the lousy ending to MTT's S.F. Mahler Eighth).

The soprano for this Paavo Jarvi M2 is Natalie Dessay, a very petite lady who's a giant in today's world of opera.  I'm so glad she wanted to perform the M2.

Im new here, but i have this on order and i should get it tomorrow, last month i bought the Nott M2 which ive only listened to once so i cant comment on that yet but when hearing the Jarvi i had to order it.
