M4 was my Mahler of choice for today.

Anyone else hear Mahler today?

Didn't listen to any Mahler, but my wife and I raised a toast to him on his 153rd.

I played M2 with Kaplan and the VPO.

Kaplan is a devoted Mahlerian.

His lectures on M2, accompanied by Mahler excerpts, move entire audiences to tears.

If you ever have a chance to attend a Kaplan M2 lecture, (usually just before an M2 performance directed by Kaplan), DON'T MISS IT !

Really! -- You will never regret it!

PBS showed the video of Boulez/Cleveland doing the M10 Adagio and 12 songs from "Des Knaben Wunderhorn" (Kozena/Gerharer). I watched it twice!

I wish he'd produce the lecrure on DVD for those who can't attend iit in person.

Yes, Roffe, I agree.

Perhaps it's a fear that when recorded it might lose some of its spontaneity.

But it's such a moving lecture that I wish he'd take a chance and record it.

I listened to M3 in the Nott Bamberg recording which is my favourite recording of the work.  M3 has turned into my most listened to Mahler symphony this year.

Not surprising for, as Mahler said, it contains the whole world.
