Thanks so much James, for giving us some hope.

This film deserves a place in film history, as one of the most creative works to document the life of a great artist.  I hope Criterion will offer it soon as a DVD.

This is great news! I'm curious to know just how much they'll be able to improve the sound, if at all. Currently I'm using a library computer, so I can't sample the excerpts for sound. Russell did so much over-dubbing on to the Haitink/Concertgebouw recordings to begin with, so Critereon may not be able to do a whole lot, sound wise. The picture looks fine.

For what it may be worth, the complete Ken Russell "Mahler" film was until a few months ago available to watch on YouTube, although split into chunks of about 10 to 12 minutes I think.  I can't find it now - maybe it's been removed, although there still are some excerpts.
