Well, I used to play euphonium, so this version just became must hear material for me. ;-)

I stumbled upon this on Soundcloud, but I haven't had a chance to listen; since I'm at work.

The second movement of Mahler 10 is really a mess. It started out as a finale and morphed into a scherzo-finale, complete with long trio sections. There's no question Mahler would have revised this movement, and it doesn't help that he did so little orchestration on it. The man just ran out of time. I think this Samale-Mazzuca version is the best one so far. While S&M somewhat over-orchestrate this first scherzo, it's also 'beefed up' without seguing into bizarre, Berg-like passages (such as Carpenter does). It certainly has the most convincing coda.

BTW, the entire S&M version can be heard on Youtube.
