As some of you might be able to tell, I've been on quite the Ádám Fischer/Mahler kick lately. I just can't get enough of it. I did some digging on the Tonhalle Düsseldorf's website on past events and it looks like the whole nine symphonies have been recorded pre-COVID 19. The 6th was performed just weeks before quarantine began (early March). It's hard to tell right now, but there is also a possibility that Fischer will record some of the
lieder. Just this past weekend, the Fischer/Düsseldorf team performed a concert of some Haydn, Mozart, and Mahler. On the program was
"Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen" and
"Der Tamboursg'sell. This doesn't really imply anything, but it's fun to speculate.
Fischer also confessed a couple months ago that he will not be producing a Bruckner cycle because he doesn't feel he has the necessary emotional connection to the music. To me, that is humble, honest, and honorable. It's rare these days to see a conductor willfully shy away from high-demand repertoire just because they don't think they can do it enough justice. Here's the interview:

"For me, Mahler's Tenth Symphony is just that Adagio. There are other versions, composers have added Mahler's piece. Some of these versions are also very exciting and interesting. But for me the Adagio is such a unique work by Mahler that I only want to have it on my own. It was clear from the start that I didn't want to record the Adagio like the other symphonies. We recorded this in a certain rhythm: we played all symphonies with the signs of the zodiac; three concerts and one recording session as a correction session. For various reasons, I do not want to accept the Adagio of the Tenth Symphony in this way. It is definitely the case that I love the music, that I want to record the music, but we do not have any specific plans for it yet. Another question will be what we combine the Adagio from the Tenth Symphony on a CD because the piece alone cannot fill a CD."
