Abbado/DG Mahler cycle
« on: November 05, 2007, 03:46:28 AM »
Does anyone know if the CDs in this set had been digitally remastered?

Thanks.

John,

I don't think that these were remastered. This box was actually released a long time ago, and has basically dried up in most places. It doen'st  include any of Abbado's Berlin or Lucerne remakes, except for the M1, and possibly M5 (not sure on that one). I don't think that it's a terribly recommendable box. At the very least, the M8 is as flat as a pancake. It was also quite expensive, so I assume that you have a line on a less expensive copy.

Barry,

I can live with Abbado's M1 (either Berlin or Chicago), Chicago M2, Vienna M3, Chicago M7, and Vienna M9+M10 Adagio. But not much elsewhere.
