I did not notice any clams, but it probably would not bother me much in a performance like this.
So much audible detail. I was just reading in La Grange II where Mahler essentially says that beginning with his Fourth Symphony his music will be all about counterpoint, so to speak. It's great hearing Mahler's counterpoint come through so clearly, but not too clinically and always musically. I suppose this would be considered an 'old-fashioned' recording in the way the orchestra is miked, but I never can hear this much detail in digital recordings (probably due to the combination of wider dynamic range and my limited hearing ability).
