What did you think, Leo?

I am going to look into Rapidshare to see about downloading this file for another listen--no, I can't resist.  Besides...I cut it off during the applause so didn't get to listen to the other 25-30 minutes after that, which I assume is just interviews and such.

Hi Michael, no, I haven't heard this yet, looks like I'll have to soon...thanks John for the thoughts!

I, too, hope a company recorded this performance.  Perhaps the BBC folks--when broadcasting it on the radio--would be open to releasing the uncompressed recording?

I have to say it's very unlikely this will be released in the near future. Proms concerts tend to surface on labels such as BBC Legends many years after the event.

Yes, but since they are going to play the symphony again in NYC in the fall, in between there might be some opportunity for them to set in a studio and record it.

Who's studio? Who would pay for it?

I'm inclined to agree with Barry. After all, the LSO already have a contract to record the Mahler symphonies with Gergiev.
