Abbado M-4 DVD just released

According to Amazon.com, Abbado and the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester's performance of M-4 was released today. It is paired with Schoenberg's Pelleas and Melisande. Apparently these were 2006 performances.

Anyone here know the details?

Juliane Banse is the soprano. The orchestra is the Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester. I watched this just last night! The performance is pretty good. I wouldn't say that it's the best I've ever seen or heard, but good none-the-less. To me, Banse sounds a bit better than she does on the Boulez M4. Then again, watching her may soften one's opinion, as she's not exactly hard on the eyes. Regardless, she does a better job here than Renee Fleming did on Abbado's last DG effort. Anyway, this performance was filmed at Vienna's Musikverein. It was a bit better than I had anticipated. 

Sorry, but I didn't watch the Schoenberg. Maybe sometime later.

Bruno Luong reports on the MahlerList that there are tracking errors on this disc. Anyone else encounter that?

What Bruno said, more exactly, was:

"technical flaw in the audio PCM stereo tracks, it was saturated at [a] few places."

I didn't notice anything weird like that. Then again, we were watching it on a television set at my parents home.

Subsequent messages from Bruno indicate that the problem is in the Schoenberg portion of the DVD.
