Bernstein/LSO M2 on CD & DVD

Are the CD (and LP) releases of Bernstein's LSO Mahler 2nd simply the audio track of the Unitel film, or was the sound recording made in separate sessions?

Since they're both from Ely Cathedral, I would assume that they're identical recordings. However, I'm not entirely positive about of that.

I don't know for certain either, but assume the same thing -- or at least that they are the same performance.  However, I don't remember the sound being the same at all.  It's been a few years since I listened to either, but as an example IIRC  -- the ending of the CD has the organ overwhelming all else, whereas the DVD has very little organ at the end.

I've had the SQ Quadraphonic LP disk set (even though I never had quadraphonic stereo equipment) issue of Bernstein's LSO performance ever since it first came out, and from all subsequent versions I've heard of this performance, the SQ Quandraphonic issue has the superior sound of the entire lot.  If you ever come across a copy available, GRAB IT!  The only down side of this recording is that the organ is virtually inaudible.  But in the video/DVD versions, it's nice to see Lenny in action.
