Melbourne al fresco M5
« on: September 25, 2010, 01:31:08 AM »
Here in Melbourne the programs for next February's free concerts at the Sidney Myer Bowl have been announced - including M5 under Tadaaki Otaka.

The Melbourne SO did a very good M5 under Stenz of course, but I'm not sure it's suitable for an open-air concert series, which normally have a few pops included.  Should be interesting... has anyone heard Mahler at the Hollywood Bowl or Ravinia?

Here is a photo from this year's series:

They did Mahler 8 at the Hollywood Bowl just this last year, with Salonen. Apparently, it went over very well. They have pretty fancy sound system there now.
