New York Philharmonic Digital Archives
« on: February 05, 2011, 09:14:20 PM »
The New York Philharmonic has opened up a digital archive with things like old scores, letters, and even access to live clips the orchestra did. Currently, I'm listening to a radio broadcast of Bernstein leading the M9 from Nov 27, 1965. Pretty cool stuff! For you score readers out there, it should be a treasure trove.     http://archives.nyphil.org/

How did you get the AUDIO?? ??? ??? This web page has only the digital documents but no audio files.

Or are you talking about an air check you got from another source?

John,

Not every score will have it, but try to track down the Bernstein Mahler Ninth as an example. Then there should be a link in the toolbar that says play audio. I was astonished to hear it myself...   Evidently they will add more audio down the road. For the Ninth, it's only the first movement. Still...!

Also...It's from a radio broadcast.

See if this link takes you directly...

I have yet to find any other sound clips besides the Bernstein M9. When you do a search for things it includes columns for audio and video, but they say "coming soon" when you put the pointer over the word "audio." Perhaps other results are buried on the document toolbar, like what I discovered in Lenny M9.
