I heard a radio broadcasting of the live concert which was quite good.

A very broad M3rd with brazen brass and piercing woodwinds was my impression.

I look forward to it with a high expectation.

John,

I also listened to the recorded broadcast, and, as a horn player, the PSO Brass playing is simply awe-inspiring.  I understand that Honeck doesn't suit the tastes of all, but everything I've heard on the Exton M1 and on the M2 and M3 recorded broadcasts has been in my very top tier of interpretations.

I just heard Honeck's Pittsburgh M3 courtesy of a file-sharing site, and I quite agree—I'm very anxious to hear the official Exton release.

My friend is a huge fan of the PSO brass section. Although he lives closer to Cleveland, he finds listening to the Pittsburgh Symphony far more rewarding.

I'll be on the lookout for this one, too.

Yeah, but Cleveland did a truly great M3 under Welser-Most. I've heard a pirate of it. I think Mahler 3 would suite Pittsburgh's sound and style better than the fourth.

Part of me wants to know what site. There's an old Slatkin M9 I wish I could track down from the early 1990s. I have it old cassettes, but I wish I could find it elsewhere.
