Fine, if you like fast Mahler without a lot of bass, and not terribly well recorded at that (for the most part).

Now it's only $62.70!  Maybe Amazon read this thread and lowered the price, it's not even released yet for sale.

I remember his Symphonie Fantastique very fondly, the March to the Scaffold always being my favorite. From these reviews, I think I'll avoid his Mahler.

Gergiev's Mahler isn't 'bad' by any means, but one would do better picking up the Bertini, Bernstein (any of them) or Zinman box sets of the complete Mahler symphonies instead. Even the Rattle Mahler box - weirdly conducted as it sometimes is - gives one more to think about (however, EMI left out Rattle's Berlin remake of M9). Also, a tremendous amount of 'bang for the buck' can be had with EMI's "Mahler - Complete Works" box set. That's the best deal of them all.

I know there was plenty of pooh-poohing of Zinman's complete Mahler, but I think it's miles ahead of Gergiev's - being both better recorded and interpretively more 'central'.

Some of Gergiev's Mahler isn't bad, but his 3rd was absolutely abysmal.

I sort of liked it, actually, but I certainly wouldn't want to hear M3 that way every time.

.   .   .  Come to think of it, for a recording of M3 that's SLIGHTLY similar to the Gergiev (emphasis on slightly), I like the Markus Stenz one quite a bit more.
