Martinon CSO/M3

Hey Friends,
   Berkshire Record Outlet is showing a cool Chicago Symphony Orchestra set that includes Martinion's M3. Snag it while you can. I've checked this out from the library in the past.

This was the first performance of M3 in Chicago by the CSO.  The audience's enthusiasm at the end of the first movement is infectious, as well as at the end.  Martinon did himself good with this.  The one ironic thing about this performance:  It was prerecorded, but never broadcast over WFMT (the classical music station in Chicago).  Wonder why?

I have only one theory: no chance for a station break. At least there are movement breaks. Years ago, there was a work by Nicholas Maw done in St. Louis...Odyssey. I like portions of that work, and wanted to capture the broadcast. It would show up on the schedule...but every time they substituted something else. However, in THAT case, it's 90 minutes of continuous music. I don't know.
